Glades personal reflection

In my honest opinion I believe that the war of 1812 was a clear victory for the Americans. I believe this for several reasons. One is that it was a clear military victory for the outnumbered and ill-prepared Americans against a superior enemy. Although Americans didn’t gain any land the gained pride in there young republic for defeating for the second times the mighty British Empire. Many Americans believed that it was showing the British that they were truly independent and that if pushed far could defend there country! They also wetre able to stop the British for impersing US sailors to fight for them. So in conclusion I believe that the War of 1812 is a remarkable and true American victory.

Wills personal reflection

America declared war against Britain in 1812 because the British were trying to stop Americans from trading with France. The British also practiced the “impressment” of Americans, forcing them to work on British ships. The war ended in December of 1814, after 6,765 Americans were killed. The US did not gain or lose any territory. It did not stop British impressment of American sailors. However, trade between the US and France and between the US and Britain returned to the way it was before the war had begun. The war also helped to strengthen America’s independence from British rule. Overall, the number of lives lost was a high price to pay for the US victory.

The US benefited the most from the War of 1812 because trade relationships were reestablished with France and Britain. The US relied on imported goods from each of these countries and earned money from exports to these countries.

The War of 1812 was important to the history of America because it helped establish the county’s power. The US military defeated the British for the second time. America was now recognized as a country that could defend itself and protect its independence.

Sean's reflection

The War of 1812 should have all been avoided. In the end, it was all just a big waste of lives and resources for everyone. Lots of French, Americans, Indians, and English soldiers died in the process and a huge amount of money, food, and other resources were used on soldiers. This starved normal people and after the war the economy was still horrible so people stayed hungry and poor for a while. This war was also a waste because no one gained or lost any land in the end. In conclusion, The War of 1812 was just a major setback in my opinion.

Brandon's reflection

My personal opinion on the results of the war are that the Indians won. The Indians were fighting to protect their land, while the British and Americans were trying to take the land away. The Indians were not the ones who benefited the most, the Americans and British benefited the most. They both got land and became successful after the war ended. The Indians did not gain anything at all. All they got was a smaller population. This war was important to America because they gained land and got what they fought for.
